ERIN GO BRAGH
Way to go, my people!
Everyone who knows me knows I've got some Irish in me. My mother is a
Kelley, and you've all heard me say that everyone in Ireland looks just like my
aunts and uncles. Seriously-- a million women in Dublin that could be my
mom's twin.
So this morning I'm cheering for Thomas L. Friedman's article (NYTimes-- do I
read anything else?) extolling the virtues and success of Ireland's business
model. Educate everyone for free and try to be reasonable is how it seems to
break down, but the important point is that they're doing very well. So my big
question is: if my great, great grandfather left Ireland sometime in the 19th
century for the lure of American riverboat gambling, is it too late to come home
again (see Bob Herbert on "quagmire")?
