I will not be seen on the internet

I have a confession to make.

I am a horrible dancer, and now that I am at home... I dance all... the... TIME!

The baby falls asleep, and I go to the iTunes-- I put on songs from our podcast,
and others that I have always found to be good for getting up (Run Lola Run
soundtrack, Jackson 5, Boomkat, Adam Ant-- I mean, it's all over the place). I
put them on and I fling myself all over the apartment. Writing about it is
embarassing, but I have done this all my life, so I think it's time to own
up to it. And there is a reason why it is time to come forward...

I think dancing like a darned fool with no regard to talent is good for your
health. It isn't exactly stretching or exercise, but it's sort of both. And it makes
you happy! Points for mental therapy as well! It doesn't make you eat well,
but it does make you drink a lot of water (after working up a sweat, after all),
and it may make you feel less hungry (this is my personal experience). What a
shame that there is such a social stigma on flapping yourself around-- like an
IDIOT! See, even to me, it is stupid. But it is great!!! Perhaps if our doctors
prescribed dancing...

You can dance hard to Stevie Wonder or Beastie Boys, and everything in
between. Think of the "dance experiences" you may have had in your life. For
me, I've seen capoeira, ballet, African dance troupes, and some kick-ass iPod
commercials. I've taken a kickboxing class and a Latin dance class. I've been
in showchoir and watched MTV since I was in kindergarten (remember Max
Headroom? sp?). I've done Mousercise, Richard Simmons, Jane Fonda, and
home-grown aerobics in the gym of an elementary school (Hollar Jenny B!).
And I have a secret love affair with breakdancing-- someday, I too will learn
the six step.

The point is, everyone can do it, even though it seems so uncool. We go out to
dance, we dance to celebrate life events, but really, as the Men With Hats so
famously said, we can dance if we want to. It feels good, and I'd wager that it's
a great way to battle free radicals, weight, stress, and the mean reds. You just
have to get over feeling stupid. So get over it! You are not alone!

Dance like me!

Yay! I dance like a moron to everything too! I think it's something I only let people I love see. It's embarassing, even though I don't know why it should be. I love to shake my sizeable rump to just about everything - Stevie Wonder, The Geto Boyz, And most embarassing, the song "Hot for Teacher" by Van Halen.

I'm a freak. But at least I'm dancing.

Today I had mean reds AND blue meanines. I really ought to have danced around. It was raining here, and some rain-dancing would have solved everything, I wager.
