Rainy Goodbyes

And now my ice cream is eaten, and it was good...
Today I returned from what is, realistically... probably... my last visit for the
season to lovely Stone Harbor. It was windy, it was rainy, it was cold, the town
was deserted... and I absolutely loved it. Age loves rain? Maybe age loves
variety. There was something about sleeping under a pile of blankets while the
wind *literally* went "woooooo" outside our window... and today I put on my
wool sweater and ran through the drizzle with Margaret, down to see the ocean.
I felt like that day when my dad stuck me in a wetsuit and took me to the
surfing beach with my boogie board... he surfed the cold choppy grey waves, I
struggled, strapped to the orange boogie board, to not drown. I thought he was
crazy to be out in the cold, rainy, undertow ocean with no lifeguards or anyone,
but I also didn't get out of the water until he did. I was about 10 I guess, and
the thought of just getting out of the churning water didn't cross my mind. I
sang songs with beats that would match all that jumping over and diving under
the waves. Sang and jumped, sang and ducked, and jumped...
