I Made Some Pants!
Friday was my last day of sewing class, and I am a little sad. As with all good
things, the class sparkled most brightly when it was just about to end, and I had
a really good time Friday night. At last, a conversation about Project Runway
was had. At last, we all tried on the elastic waistband fat pants that we had
made for ourselves-- in bright blue, or red with white polar bears, or green
calico (mine were khaki with a sort of blue pin stripe-- with the idea that I could
wear them out of the house. Turns out I could reasonably wear them to a rave
because they are enormous).
While sticking my fingers with pins that night, I was schooled on what the young
people listen to these days... JAY-Z, I am proud to find out, is declaring the
very egalitarian sentiment that "Ladies is pimps, too"... and everyone must
really love that new Alicia Keys song because the radio plays it 12 times every
hour.
Oh, I am sad it is done. But happy to have loved and lost, I guess. Perhaps
now I'll get on with my crusade to make elastic pants COOL... fat pants for all!
