Billy Blanks Tae Bo Philly Style!

So here I am, writing on the computer at 3:30 am, waiting to leave for the
beach at 4:30am so that we'll beat the Saturday morning rush (I just couldn't
drag my little ones out of bed last night to leave-- it seemed too cruel... but
maybe this is no better)... and the TV is on MUTE...

And I see it! Billy Blanks with a crew of Tae Bo enthusiasts, kickin' it on the
East Terrace of the Art Museum with "TESOROS" spelled out behind them! Did
they make this just for people like me, who love Philadelphia and are inspired
just by the site of the steps and massive columns of the Museum?

Billy! I want to jump start my cardio! I want to FIRM & LIFT! SLIM & SHAPE--
in Philadelphia-- in front of the museum! I don't mind that you look like you're
tap dancing with some sort of odd red cane... oh. Actually, your moves with
the red stick are really strange. But you've got my attention...!

flickr?

So I am lazy at technology.
I usually let Seth do it, or else I don't and I mess it up personally, myself.

BUT NOT THIS TIME! HA!

Check out my flickr photos:

May Days

(And tell me if I did anything wrong-- thanks)

Museums for Free

For nerds like me who jump up and down when anyone says, "Let's go to the
museum!"-- Bank of America has a great deal for the month of May.

If you have a Bank of America or MBNA check or credit card, you and a guest can
get into several participating museums for free during the month of May! For the
Philadelphia area, there are 4 museums in the city and several more in
Wilmington that are totally worth the trip!

Check it out here on the Bank of America website.

Philly...the GREATEST

Yeah, but you already knew that, right?

Today Walnut Street was blocked off from Broad to 19th and we all had a big
party! Shops, restaurants, non-profits and companies like Philly Car Share put
themselves on the street, along with all kinds of musicians. I was particularly
enamored of the lady singing quack-quack childrens songs and the theater
group passing out Whole Foods Bags-- with "Flour" bags for free you know even
the ladies with Prada shoes were clamoring over each other to get in on the
action. It was crazy!

After walking through the throng, we had a picnic in Rittenhouse. Then we
pushed our balloon-decorated stroller over the bridge to West Philly and
enjoyed the "Pre-Mummy Day" celebration at the University Museum (where
mommies and little kids were free and I got a rose just for being a mom--
astounding!)

It was awesome to see artifacts from Ancient Egypt, Amazonia, the
American Southwest, and Alaska. We got to see real examples of things
mentioned in one of our favorite books, called "Mama Do You Love Me?"--
Umiaks, mukluks, and parkas.

Then, after walking the twenty-some blocks home, we were totally, happily,
intellectually and physically... EXHAUSTED! What a DAY! It was great... and
the exploration continues...

PS I've been working on a little Guide to Philly with the upcoming NEA
conference in mind, but it's so hard to do-- how to focus on things when I
have so much I want to say. *Sigh*

Completions and Connections...

...have not been happening recently with me! I'd like to say sorry to everyone
that I owe anything to-- be it an apology, a birthday gift, an explanation...
There's something about seeing seven days of sunny weather on the local news
forecast that makes me go outside and never come in. I've walked all over
town ten times over and we've hit just about every playground I can think of in
the last three days... I'm falling asleep around 9:30 every night and it just
doesn't give me a lot of time to do all that grownup stuff... but to be honest, it
sure does feel good to leave it behind for Mr. Golden Sun now and again!

I know I've said it before, but whenever this season hits me, it's like I revisit
that one, eternal summer that never ended-- was just waiting for me to catch
up again. So, no matter how egregious it may be, I feel like I've got a free
pass to drop out of life for a while. Like I'm twelve again, and no one'll miss
me if I'm gone. But I know that's not true now.

In the meantime, apologies!
