Really?

Is it really September already? Okay. This summer has been a WEAK posting
season here at Paint the Sky... what? One a month? And not even informative!
Horrendous!

Well, thank the good Lord for pictures, which are about to speak 32,000 words for
me.

The first day of school is coming for Margaret, and Mitchell will be continuing his
studies at YCCA. The fall will bring much excitement, and blog posts will flow...

PS I saw Jay, the winner of season one of Project Runway, at the YCCA (the
kids' preschool) fundraiser this weekend-- where I was hawking baked goods in
105 degrees like a good mother should. Jay was surely there to hear the kids
from the Bluebond Rock School (he was not, most likely, after our baked
goods), but I was very excited to see him nonetheless! I'm not the sort that
usually notices celebrities on the street (they have to be standing on stages and
stuff or I miss them completely), so I was just impressed to have spotted him
standing 8 feet in front of me (though I was sitting down and he was standing,
which is a little like being on a stage, I guess). Now that I have SPOTTED a
celebrity, my next goal will have to be speaking to one. At the rate I'm going,
maybe I'll manage a "hello" to someone famous by the time I'm sixty...

LEAD in Toys

The recalls on children's toys seem to never stop. If you hadn't heard, several
Thomas toys were recalled because of excessive lead in the paint used on
them, and now a HUGE list of Fisher Price toys are being recalled for the same
reason-- mainly Sesame Street, Dora and Diego, and a few Blues Clues toys.
All made in China, of course.

I'm beginning to think we should only get toys made in the US, or start buying
the more old fashioned kind (unpainted wooden cars, anyone?)-- or maybe just
make our own! Goodness knows we've all blown enough money on toys to last
a lifetime... Let's not have them POISON us, too!

See the list of recalled Fisher Price toys here.
